Information for CCI Wired Customers

We pride ourselves on using innovative connectivity solutions, customizing our solutions to the unique setting of every rural and remote area. One such special solution is CCI Wired, a subsidiary of our business that uses existing TELUS DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) infrastructure to provide internet services in 18 “Wired Towns.”

On March 31, 2020, an agreement was reached for TELUS to acquire the DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) assets of CCI Wireless, and our customers connected by DSL in our Wired Towns. TELUS is well-positioned to invest in technology and infrastructure that will enable future services and enhanced reliability for customers like you. We feel the time is right to transition this part of our business, for the benefit of our valued customers.

Please note that the information about this transition applies only to CCI Wired customers, and does not pertain to customers connected to other services. TELUS has not acquired any customers connected by CCI’s fixed-wireless services.

What has happened? 

On March 31, 2020, we reached an agreement for TELUS to acquire the DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) assets of CCI Wireless, and CCI’s customers connected by DSL in our Wired Towns.

CCI Wired is a subsidiary of CCI Wireless (Corridor Communications Inc.) that uses existing TELUS DSL infrastructure to provide internet services in 18 Alberta “Wired Towns.”

What changes for customers today? 

Nothing. CCI Wireless is here to support you. At this time, you remain supported by CCI, and all services, prices, bills, support hours and contact information remain the same. You do not need to take any action to keep receiving the same great CCI services.

What does this change for customers in the future?

Management of your services will be transferred to TELUS. As the transition moves along, notifications will be sent by CCI via mail and email. Please make sure to keep your contact information updated. After the transition, notifications will be sent by TELUS.

If you have any questions during this transition, please contact CCI’s Customer Care the same as you always have.

Will you continue offering the same products and services you do today?

Your CCI services are not changing at this time. CCI is not able to comment on any future TELUS plans.

Will the cost of my services change?

All CCI products, services, rates and billing will remain the same, at this time. Customers will be notified in advance of any changes.

Will there be any disruption to my services?

As the transition progresses, you will be notified by CCI or TELUS of any changes to your services. CCI is not able to comment on any future TELUS plans.

Will the way I contact CCI change? 

No. For the foreseeable future, customers can continue to reach CCI the same as you do today. Can I still upgrade or make changes to my CCI services?

Yes. While you are a customer of CCI, you can make changes to your account by contacting CCI.

When will I have to switch to a TELUS service? 

As the transition progresses, you will be notified of any changes to your services by CCI or TELUS.

Where can I learn about what services TELUS will offer in my community?

It depends on which services you would like to order from TELUS and which services are available in your community. You can view available products and services along with pricing at telus.com.

How do I get in touch with TELUS if I want to discuss more details of the changes? 

Your best point of contact is still the CCI Customer Care Team. Reach out to us by phone at 1-844-642-2224, by email at customercare@cciwired.ca, and find CCI’s contact information and hours at cciwireless.ca/contact.

Will TELUS be announcing new acquisitions in Alberta?

CCI is not able to comment on any future TELUS plans.

Will new TELUS products be available?

It depends on which services you would like to order from TELUS and which services are available in your community. You can view available products and services along with pricing at telus.com.

Can you just switch me from CCI to TELUS?

No, the switch is not automatic. You will be contacted when it is time for you to switch and guided through the process.

Will the cost of my services change when I switch to TELUS?

It depends on which services you would like to order from TELUS. You can view the products, services and pricing at telus.com or talk with a knowledgeable TELUS customer service member to find something that will suit your needs and price range.

Is there any cost to switch to TELUS?

No, there is no cost to switch.

How do I switch to TELUS?

You will be contacted by CCI when it is time to switch, and guided through the transition. You do not need to take any action before then.

We will share with you the easiest ways to contact TELUS in the coming months. In the meantime, contact the CCI team with any questions by phone at 1-866-642-2224, by email at customercare@cciwired.ca.

When I switch to TELUS, do I need to notify CCI?

Yes. You will be contacted by CCI when it is time to switch, and guided through the transition. During the process, you will need to contact CCI to settle your internet account. Any rental equipment must be returned once your CCI service has been cancelled.

Will my current equipment work or do I need any new technology?

You will need to have new equipment to run your TELUS internet. A TELUS team member can provide you details about this equipment when you begin the transition. You will be contacted by CCI when it is time to switch.

What happens if I do not schedule an appointment to switch CCI internet to TELUS?

If you do not take any action when you are contacted with information about switching to TELUS internet services, your current internet access provided by CCI will eventually be terminated. Within a reasonable timeframe, you will need to allow TELUS reasonable access to your premises to install, maintain, or replace equipment and facilities that will enable us to move your service to TELUS facilities. You will be contacted when it is time to switch to TELUS internet services, and you do not need to take action before you are contacted.

Will I be charged a contract cancellation fee if I cancel my CCI Internet services account between October 2020 and March 2021?

No, you will not be charged a cancellation fee if you cancel your CCI internet services account between October 2020 and March 2021.
