Team Cinnamon Curling

The girls are on ?

We’re a proud sponsor of Team Cinnamon, an Under 18 competitive curling team we chose because they represent our EPIC values of Entrepreneurship, Passion, Innovation and Community. The team is comprised of Zoe, Myla, Raelyn, Lauren, Ava and their Coach Blair. They’ve had a remarkable year of bonspeilling!

The team practices weekly with Coach Blair as a team and one-on-one. The team competes together or breaks off with other curlers to compete in mixed doubles! These five fantastic ladies and their coach have worked really hard on being a team, honing in on their skills and perfecting the art of curling. They’ve demonstrated great sportsmanship on and off the ice but most importantly, they’re having fun!

Team Cinnamon has played 62 games in competition, only losing 14! The team has thrown over 3,500 rocks this season, not including practice.

It’s been a busy season for Team Cinnamon.

The team participated in training sessions with Atina Johnson of Okotoks with the Excel Training Program through Curling Alberta. They stayed on top of the leaderboard through the Excel Points race and Alberta Junior Curling Tour. From this, the ladies earned entry to the U18 Provincial Competition without having to compete in the qualifier.

Recently, Team Cinnamon went to Camrose to compete in the first Alberta Junior Curling Tour Continental Cup, finishing second overall.

One of the Team Cinnamon ladies also competed in the Alberta Winter Games hosted in Airdrie. Over 2,600 athletes from across the province competed in 20 different sports. Myla and her U15 team won Gold for Ladies team curling!

The entire team also competed in Mixed Doubles qualifiers in Canmore this past November – each girl qualified with their respective partners and went on to Provincials in December, hosted in Lethbridge. While none of the duos made the championship rounds, good shots were made by all! Next, the pairs will compete in Round 2 at the U21 Mixed Doubles Provincials at the Calgary Curling Club in April.

This week, Team Cinnamon takes on U18 Provincials!

The team has travelled to Sexsmith to compete. The winner of this round robin competition will represent the province as Team Alberta and go to Nationals in April, hosted in Sudbury, Ontario!

Guess who we’re cheering for?

Your sponsorship dollars mean so much to us.

It allows us to practice, go to curling camp, work with exceptional role models and coaches throughout the year, travel across Alberta with our families to compete, use great equipment, wear great teamwear and participate in more bonspiels than we ever have before.

Mostly, our sincere thanks for believing in us and supporting our dream of curling.
